CONSERVATION COMMITTEE

The Hillcrest Conservation Committee has worked with considerable enthusiasm this year to acquaint the students with the park and conservation in general. Throughout the year there has been a bulletin board located in the Junior High area with interesting material.

The Committee conducted an ‘Information Assembly” in Junior High. It also proposed projects for the individual student to work on. The projects are classified as:

Building projects (models, maps, and other constructions)
Painting Projects (posters, sketches, designs)
Essay Projects (writings, stories, compositions)

The purpose of the projects is to encourage the students to learn more about conservation.

The Hillcrest Conservation Advisory Council acts

as an advisors committee in the operation of H.C. Park.

Special events, days or activities involving student classes, groups,

Grades, or schools will be conducted by said groups, but the HCPAC

will be pleased to assist in the capacity of planning, coordination and

information if such services are requested.

Suggestive programs and plans are offered by the
group each year as a guide to serve those wishing to

do constructive work.

The Hillcrest Conservation Committee. composed of students and faculty members, hopes to accomplish some very important things at the park this year. Also, if plans materialize. next year can be a banner year in the use the park by the students of N.H.S.

This spring we shall try to greatly improve the road leading up

to the park so that our camping committee can really “go to town.”

Replacement of trees and shrubs that have died will be started; and it is hoped that our fish pond will be repaired so that it can be put to full use.  At our two new elementary schools we plan to help in the Arbor Day observance and landscaping of the areas.

1957

Truly, we have for our use a perfect place to study and

learn about conservation. May we, the students and faculty, use and learn more from the park each year.
