Introducing Dr. Yusuf Harper, Our New Community Board Member

Meet Dr. Yusuf Harper, a resident of Norwich for 24 years and our newest addition to the Chenango Greenway Conservancy Board of Directors. After retiring from medical practice over five years ago, Yusuf has dedicated his time to various environmental and community pursuits.

A father of seven, Yusuf's passion for the outdoors started in his childhood, exploring the natural world by climbing trees and playing in creeks. His love for adventure evolved into serious mountaineering, rock climbing, and kayaking on major rivers, experiences that have deeply informed his perspective on nature and conservation.

Beyond his adventurous pursuits, Dr. Harper is also a pillar in the Norwich community through his environmental contributions. He is the founder of a large organic farm, a testament to his commitment to sustainable living. His roles as a beekeeper and a mushroom grower and forager further illustrate his deep connection with the land.

Dr. Yusuf Harper's diverse background as a medical professional, an environmental enthusiast, and a family man makes him a valuable addition to our board. We are excited to have him bring his wealth of knowledge and experience to help guide the Chenango Greenway Conservancy towards a vibrant future.

In other changes to the Board,  we have heartfelt thank you to Dr. Tom Holmes, who has diligently served as our treasurer. His commitment and expertise have been pillars of our success. He is still a vital member of our Board but he will be handing over the treasurer duties.  Stepping into this crucial role is Board member Jill Liberatore, bringing her unique skills and vision to help guide our financial path forward.

We are sad to see Board members Chris Snow and Scott Sutton step down from the board, we are immensely grateful for their years of dedicated service. Their contributions have been instrumental in shaping the Greenway Conservancy into what it is today. We're pleased they will continue to support our cause as volunteers, sharing their passion and knowledge in new ways.

Each member, past and present, plays a vital role in our journey. We thank all for their time, effort, and unwavering dedication to the Chenango Greenway Conservancy. These changes on our Board reflect both our respect for our history and our excitement for the future.
