Let’s kick off Summer with a Magical Full Moon Hike As the longest day of the year approaches, we invite you to join us in celebrating the Summer Solstice with an enchanting full Moon Hike. On this special evening, you'll have the opportunity to experience the magic of the Strawberry moon as it rises over the City of Norwich. Whether you're an avid hiker or just looking to enjoy a beautiful evening in nature, this event offers a unique way to mark the beginning of summer. On June 21st, we are offering two distinct hikes to the Face, where you will witness the stunning moonrise. The first hike begins at 6:30 PM from the Dungeon on Upper Ravine Road. This group will embark on a journey that will take them through a variety of special sites, offering a gradual and exploratory route to the face of the quarry. For those seeking a more vigorous challenge, the second hike will start at 7:30 PM from Wheeler Avenue. This shorter but steeper route will provide an exhilarating ascent, perfect for those who enjoy a challenge but want to keep it short. The sense of accomplishment upon reaching the Face will be matched only by the breathtaking view of the moon ascending in the twilight sky. Participants in both hikes are encouraged to wear sturdy footwear and bring a flashlight for the journey back. As we gather at the Face, you’ll have the chance to connect with fellow Greenway members, and enjoy the magical atmosphere of the moonlit evening. The Chenango Greenway Conservancy is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Halloween Event!  It is a family friendly guided hike into the darkness of the deep woods of west hill.  We will travel back in time to the era of stone workers, when tales of long ago were shared at Dimross.  The journey to Dimross is just one mile, but will take you back ages to a time when the world was new and magic was everywhere.  You'll meet a Wizard and The Green Lady and perhaps a ghoul, or is that a tree? The journey lasts about 2 hours, but the memory will last a lifetime!  Come join us! The Chenango Greenway Conservancy invites you to join us for a First Day Hike led by Greenway members Inez Moutarde and Sharon Pelosi. This family-friendly event is the perfect way to celebrate new beginnings, connect with nature, and set your goals for the year ahead. Event Details: Date: January 1, 2025 Time: 10:00 AM (Please arrive a few minutes early to get settled) Meeting Location: Dungeon Parking Lot (Greenway parking lot on Upper Ravine Road) Hike Overview: This easy-to-moderate 2-mile hike will take participants along the beautiful trail to Dimross. For those looking for a little extra adventure, there will be an option to continue on to the Stone Quarry Face, offering stunning views and a rewarding experience.
