Successful Rail Trail Cleanup
Last month, over the course of three days, our dedicated volunteers came together for a highly successful rail trail cleanup, which has made it seem possible a vision for this invaluable community asset
This comprehensive cleanup was made possible through the collaborative efforts of several key partners. In cooperation with the New York, Susquehanna & Western (NYSW) Railway and the City Department of Public Works (DPW), the Greenway’s Chenango Heritage Rail Trail committee worked tirelessly to clear the railway right of way through the city of Norwich. We were also fortunate to have the support of the Summer Youth Employment Program at The Place, whose young participants brought energy and enthusiasm to the project.
The impact of this cleanup effort is already evident. The appearance of the proposed rail trail corridor has been significantly improved, making it safer and more inviting for future use. This progress is a crucial step toward transforming the area into a beautiful and accessible trail that will serve as a cherished resource for the entire community.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all the volunteers and partners who made this cleanup possible. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to our shared vision are what make projects like this a success. Together, we are creating something truly special for Norwich, and we’re excited to continue this journey with all of you.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to develop the Chenango Heritage Rail Trail, and thank you for being an essential part of our community’s progress!
