We’ll hike the Stone Quarry Trails together, guided by moonlight and surrounded by the sounds of nature at night. This family-friendly event is a chance to connect with the outdoors, get some exercise, and experience the trails in a whole new way.     Race to the Face & Mountain Goat Challenge 5KDate: Saturday, September 27Start Time: 12:00 PMLocation: West Park, Norwich, NY Join us for one of the Greenway’s most popular annual events: the Race to the Face 5K and Mountain Goat Challenge! Starting in the heart of Norwich at West Park, participants will make their way up the trail to the Stone Quarry Face enjoying scenic views and crisp fall air along the way. This event is for everyone—whether you run, walk, jog, or just want to be part of a lively outdoor celebration. The Mountain Goat Challenge will crown the fastest runner to make the climb from West Park to ring the bell at the Stone Quarry Face. The 5K is alongside our local Chobani in the Park celebration, making it a perfect day out for families, friends, and community members of all ages.   • Tales and Trails Halloween Hike 2025

     Join Us for the 3rd Annual Tales & Trails Halloween Hike! One of our most popular events is back! Saturday, October 25 Starts at 6:00 PM Upper Ravine Road Bring your family and friends for an unforgettable autumn evening. Along the way, you’ll stop at two special trail spots where storytellers will share tales that bring the season to life. What to bring: Dress warm, wear proper footwear and if you have a flashlight or head torch bring that. To keep the event safe and enjoyable, registration is required and capped at 100 participants.   • Parade of Lights – Sasquatch and the Elves

    Parade of Lights 2025: Sasquatch & the Elves Date: Saturday, November 29Time: Meet at 5:30 PMLocation: We are meeting on Beebe Ave Join the Chenango Greenway Conservancy for one of our favorite community traditions—hiking the Parade of Lights together! This year’s theme is Sasquatch & the Elves, and we can’t wait to bring the holiday magic to downtown Norwich. We invite all Greenway members, volunteers, families, friends, and community members to walk with us. Dogs are welcome, too! If you have ever found a Keeper Staff left behind by the mysterious DG Keeper, we extend a special invitation to you. Bring your staff and light it up for the parade! What to Wear & Bring Dress as an elf if you’d like — we’ll have elf ears available Wear festive lights or glowing accessories Bring your Keeper Staff if you have one Most importantly: dress warm It’s always a joy to see friends, neighbors, and families lining the streets as we walk together.     Annual Members Meeting – All Are Welcome The Chenango Greenway Conservancy invites all members — and anyone interested in learning more about our work — to our Annual Members Meeting at the United Church of Christ (UCC). Join us for light refreshments and community connection as we look back on what we’ve accomplished and look forward to exciting plans for 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow members, learn about current and upcoming projects, and find out how you can be part of preserving and connecting Chenango County’s trails, rivers, and green spaces.   • Kick off the New Year with Our First Day Hike 2026

    Kick off the New Year with fresh air, movement, and community at our First Day Hike. This guided winter hike will be led by Beth Stewart, John and Judy Killean, offering participants a chance to enjoy local trails while welcoming the year ahead with intention and connection. The hike will cover approximately 2–4 miles and is expected to take 2–3 hours, depending on group interest and conditions. The pace will be relaxed and adjusted to the hikers present. Participants should bring: • Snowshoes • Water • A snack • Appropriate winter footwear and layers This hike is open to all who are comfortable hiking in winter conditions and looking to begin the year outdoors. Join us for a meaningful and energizing start to the New Year.
